Jean HoJin Han, age 69, of Fishers, Indiana passed away on March 9th, 2022 surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Incheon City, Ganghwa Province, South Korea on January 16th, 1953 to parents Jung Sun Ryu and Yong Rang Cho.
Jean received her Nursing degree from Gyeonggi Nursing College in 1974 and worked as an OR nurse from 1974-1980 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Seoul, South Korea.
One of Jean’s sisters introduced her to a dashing man named Sang Hak Han and the two married on May 14th, 1977. They shared 44 wonderful years together and raised two children.
In 1980, Jean and her family immigrated to the United States and from 1981-2015, lived in the Chicago land area. There, she and her husband were business owners, initially running a shoe repair shop and a ladies accessory jewelry store, and later, owning and managing a liquor store. In 2015, Jean and Sang Hak moved to Fishers IN to live with her daughter and help raise her loving grandchildren.
Jean was a generous, kind, and loving lady. She was a hard worker, always enjoyed helping others and loved giving to others, rather than receiving. She had a fun, positive personality, had a great listening ear and was a friend to many.
Jean ran track in highschool and was a talented musician, playing the guitar in college and had an amazing singing voice (even performing on a Korean broadcast show). She was a valued member of Eunhye Korean Presbyterian Church for many years. Jean enjoyed traveling, frequently visiting Niagara Falls whenever family from Korea would visit. Some of her favorite vacation trips were to Hawaii, a cruise to Cozumel, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, the Canadian Rocky Mountains, Disney World and visiting Spain, Portual, Italy and Japan. She also loved returning back to Korea to visit with her family and friends. Jean was an excellent cook and loved hosting and feeding family and friends. Above all, she adored spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren. She was often found on outings with her grandchildren at the zoo, IN state fair, parks, etc. and also enjoyed walking/hiking.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Jean is survived by her husband Sang Hak Han; children JooHee (Jeremy) Dodge and Peter Han; grandchildren Adam, Kyle, and Alex Dodge; and siblings Byung Hee, Ok Hee, Jung Min, Ho Ryong, and Sook Hee Ryu.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Jean will be Saturday, March 12th, at Flanner Buchanan Geist 7855 Cork Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46236 from 1pm-3pm. Her funeral service will be held at 3pm immediately following the visitation.
