Jean A. Brown

Jean A. Brown, 85, of Carmel, IN died March 6, 2016 atKindred Transitional Care, Carmel, IN. Jean was born May 11, 1930 in Larwill, IN the daughter of Benton S andLovinna Scripter Fruchey. She wasmarried in 1949 to Billie J. Brown who died in 1989. She is survived by four children: Everett B. Brown, Carmel; Lucinda R. (Larry)Ligget, Terre Haute, IN; LaDonna M. (Charles) Burnett, Virginia Beach, VA; and JeanetteL. (Terry) Wilson, Indianapolis. She isalso survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous niecesand nephews. In addition, she issurvived by one brother, Joseph S. Fruchey, Cottonwood, AZ, and one sister,Joan E. Geiger, Columbia City, IN. Shewas preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Mary Jane Fruchey, AlmaJeanette Fruchey, and Arlene Fruchey Briggs Rex.

Jean was an avid gardener and showed dahlias at theIndiana State Fair for 58 years. Shealso enjoyed camping and fishing. Shewas a member of the American Dahlia Society, Elkhart Dahlia Society, CentralStates Dahlia Society, a 50 year member of the National Campers and HikersAssoc., Family RV/Camping Organization, Capitol City Campers, Good Sam’s Club,Hoosier Heartlanders Chapter 172, Kentucky Colonels Camping Club, and theAmerican Legion. She loved watching Carmel High School sports. She retired fromFord Wire Products, Broad Ripple, IN.

Visitation is Friday 4-7 evening and 10 to 11 prior to 11a.m. services Saturday morning, conducted by Rev. Stephen Briggs, at theFlanner and Buchanan-Zionsville, 105 W. Pine St., Zionsville.
