Jarrett Michael Dean Ellis

In loving memory of PV2, Jarrett Michael Dean Ellis, a.k.a. “Bear.”  Jarrett was born on 9/9/1999 in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He attended Decatur Township schools from kindergarten through his sophomore year and attended Cascade High School his junior and senior year.  Jarrett graduated from Cascade High School in May of 2018 and shortly after, became a proud serviceman for the United States Army. After graduation from boot camp, he was stationed at Fort Drum in New York.

Jarrett was known for his love and dedication to his family and shared a very special bond with all of his cousins; and his friends, John, Kyle, and Brock, who were as close as brothers to him.  Jarrett loved and played football from the age of eight up through his high school years.  However, his true passion was working out.  If he was not in school or at work, he was in the gym.  He had a love for music, enjoyed playing video games, and his favorite movie as a child was “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

Jarrett was a very social person and was at his best when his family, friends, and his fiancé Arrin and her family surrounded him.  He had a great sense of humor and was known for being extremely funny and for cracking jokes.  He was always the life of the party, but was also the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.

Jarrett was preceded in death by his brother, Joshua Ryan Ellis; and his Papaw, Bruce Connell. His parents, Tommy and Rachelle Ellis; his fiancé, Arrin Holcomb; his grandparents, Sharon Connell, Dean Ellis, and Connie Ellis; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and extended family members survive him.

He will be remembered by so many who loved him and his legacy will live on through the stories and memories that are shared by his family, friends, and those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him in life.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 11:00a – 1:00p at Flanner Buchanan-Decatur Township at 5463 Kentucky Ave., Indianapolis, Indiana 46221.  A celebration of life service will start at 1:00pm and burial will take place immediately after at West Newton Cemetery, 6627 Milton Street, Indianapolis, IN 46227.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation for Defenders, Veterans, First Responders and their families, and those in need. Donations can be made in his honor at https://www.garysinisefoundation.org/give/.
