Janis J. Mikits

Janis “John” Juris Mikits, 76 of Franklin, Indiana, passed away on May 22, 2026. Janis was born on November 18, 1949, in Geren, Mississippi to the late Adolfs and Valija Mikits. He was a 1968 graduate of Manual High School. He retired as a Supervisor for Indy Parks. He was a member of the Indianapolis Latvian Lutheran Church, Bethany Lutheran Church and the AFSCME labor union. He is survived by his wife Judy (Brown) Mikits, children Janis (Amy) Mikits, Marnita (Steve Brooks) and Nicole (Travis) Walker, grandchildren Dalton, Brianna, Tanner, Janis, Quinten, Augusts, Caitlyn, Sierra, great-grandchildren Ryker, Ellouise and Fable and sister Vaida (Mikits) Jordan. 

Visitation will be Thursday, June 4, 2026, from noon to 2 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park. Funeral service will be Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 2 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park. Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery.
