Janet Wilson

Surrounded by her children, Janet (Donachie) Wilson passed away on March 11, 2019, following a brief illness.   She was 82.

Born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, Janet married the late Alexander Wilson in 1957.  In 1968, the couple and their two young daughters immigrated to the United States, settling in Indianapolis.  Their son was born soon after their arrival; the family remained lifelong residents of the city.

Janet held several jobs in Indianapolis but was happiest during her many years with a local medical practice where she served as a trusted assistant and office manager prior to retirement.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Janet loved spending time with her family and rarely missed a graduation, game, performance or celebration involving one of her children or grandchildren.  She was a talented knitter, avid reader, sometime gardener and huge tennis fan.

Janet will be deeply missed by her children Janet (Bob) Ausdenmoore; Alison Farley; Alex (Jennifer) Wilson; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Alex, who died in 2001.

Friends and family will gather to remember Janet on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, from 11 am – 1 pm at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center – Washington Park East.  A private family burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gleaner’s Food Bank of Indiana, 3737 Waldemere Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46241.
