Janet Carol Walker

Nov 14, 1939 — Jul 4, 2026

Janet Carol Walker (Scrivner), 86, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026. Janet was born in Decatur, Illinois, on November 14, 1939, to Lloyd and Doris Scrivner.

Janet married the love of her life, Thomas George Walker, on September 20, 1958, and together they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on November 19, 2025. They truly enjoyed working side by side, whether it was helping Thomas with book fairs, or serving customers at their family business, South Audubon Market in Irvington. Over the years, Janet also worked as a realtor with Shiloh Realty and Koorsen Fire Protection Company. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she found fellowship through St. John Luthern Church, Christ Luthern Church, Trinity Luthern Church, and St. Paul’s Luthern Church. When she wasn’t working Janet could be found tending her flowers, working a crossword puzzle, or cheering on Purdue football and basketball, the Colts, the Chiefs, and the Pacers. She found happiness in life’s everyday moments, especially those spent with the people she loved, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Janet is preceded in death by her loving husband Thomas George Walker; daughter Cheryl Leslie Walker; siblings Marjorie (James) Thomas, and Nadeanne Shull (John). Janet is survived by her son Thomas James Walker (Debbie); nephews Greg Shull (Cathy), Jeff Shull (Pam); niece Doris Ann (Monty) Gill; grandchildren Kristina Romelis (Justin), Kelsey Walker, Mark Walker (Cayla), Megan Walker; great-grandchildren Will Romelis, Ava Romelis, Quincy Walker, Oaklynn Walker; as well as many friends and relatives.

There will be a private graveside service at Concordia Cemetery in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to LCMS Concordia University Systems. Donations can be made directly to the Church Works Scholarship program as well.
