Janet Charlene Spalding

Janet Charlene (Carrier) Spalding, age 76 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Monday evening, April 8, 2024.

Janet, known to many as “Charlene” was born on October 13, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

She married Bruce Spalding on August 23, 1980 in Indianapolis.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years: Bruce Spalding of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Her two children: daughter Suzanne (husband Robert) Japenga of Cloverdale, Indiana and Harry (wife Wendy) Fox of Huntsville, Alabama.

Grandchildren from Suzanne: Christine (husband Andrew) Lund, David (wife Jaclyn) Flint, Natalie (husband Isaiah) Onate and Robert Japenga

Grandchildren from Harry: Eric Gannaway and Sharon (husband Austin) Stacy

Great grandchildren from Suzanne: Mackenzie Lund, Madison Lund, Raegan Lund, Ryleigh Lund and Zoey Onate.

Great grandchildren from Harry: Natalie Bramlett, Hudson Stacy, and Ada Stacy.

Special great granddaughter Ada Stacy was born on the morning that Janet gained her wings to eternal life.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East Funeral Center, located at 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229.

Her funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM. Pastor Chris Smith of People’s Church Indianapolis will officiate.

Janet knew no stranger, her love had no bounds. When she entered any room the air was light and full of laughter. She lived a life for Jesus and always put others before herself. She will be missed, but her memories will always live with those who knew her.

Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
