Janet M. Lazdins, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, in Indianapolis. Born on January 14, 1952, in Johnstown, Ohio to the late Robert and Helen (Ulery) Baker. Janet grew up on their family’s farm along with her older brothers Tom Baker and Terry Baker. Janet’s childhood was filled with faith, family, and lessons of resilience, all of which shaped her into a woman of strength and courage.
Janet dreamed of being a writer and often started her mornings by journalling while sitting at the kitchen table. She took pride in raising her daughter, in her home, marrying her best friend, and becoming a grandmother. Janet was known for being an avid sports fan and never missing a chance to cheer on her favorite teams the Indiana Hoosiers, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Indiana Pacers. Janet’s journey through life was one marked by unconditional love, a great sense of humor, and a deep sense of purpose in her faith, family, and home.
Janet is survived by her loving husband, John P. Lazdins; daughter, Heather Poulton Bozell; two grandsons, SPC William C. Bozell and Jagger Bozell, and her precious feline companion, Pheobe.
Friends and family are invited to honor Janet’s memory at a visitation on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, at Flanner Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46220.
