JANET “JAN” SMITH SENETAR
Janet Senetar, 84, of Zionsville Indiana, formerly of Highland, Indiana, passed away on June 28, 2016. She was born July 15, 1931 to Emmett and Louise Smith in Cleveland, Ohio. Janet graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics, where she also met her husband Joseph. She received her Masters Degree in Education from Purdue University and taught Home Economics at Highland Jr. High School for 19 years. Janet enjoyed spending time at her family’s lake cottage and traveling both domestically and internationally, especially enjoying cruising. She also loved volunteering and spending time with family and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her independence, lending a helping hand, and babysitting her grandchildren.
Janet is survived by her children, Joseph (Ann) Senetar of Denver, Colorado, Dr. James (Sandra) Senetar of Zionsville, Indiana, and Joanne (Dr. Michael) Kovacich of Munster, Indiana; her grandchildren Jason and Kristen Senetar, and Michael and Kristina Kovacich; sibling Nancy (Rev. Dennis) Smith; many beloved family members and countless treasured friends. She was preceded in death by husband Joseph and parents Emmett and Louise Smith.
Family and friends are invited to visit in The Chapel at Hoosier Village at 9870 Cherryleaf Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana on July 9, 2016 from 1 to 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held in The Chapel at 2 p.m. with a reception following in The Great Hall at Hoosier Village.
