Janeise Rose Hendee

Janeise Rose Hendee, 83, Indianapolis, went Home to be with her Lord
and Savior, whom she loved, September 26, 2021. She was born in
Horton, AL to Luther Dalton and Essie Lee LeCroy Burgess. At the age of
14 she moved with her family to Chicago, IL, where she eventually met
the love of her life. She was 19 years old when she and Wesley wed.
They moved to Carpentersville, IL, where they raised their family for a
number of years, then to Indianapolis, IN. Several years after becoming
empty nesters, they retired to Leesburg, FL. In 2011 they returned to
Indiana. Jane was always a homemaker but also had several jobs
outside the home. Through the years she and Wes were very involved
with their church, enjoyed traveling and taking cruises, and loved
spending time with their grandchildren.
Janeise was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 57 years,
Wesley H. Hendee, Brother Ray Burgess, sister Mandy Green, step
brother Virgil Green, and son in law, David Shank.
Survivors include her children, Kim Hendee, Karen Shank, Richard
Hendee (Lavonne), Joyce Yake (Donavon), and Sheila Birsfield (Jeff);
grandchildren, Jennifer Calhoon (Greg), Caroline Shank (Nigero), Tiffany
Buchanan (Kevin), Chad Hendee, Jason Hendee (Cecelia), Deborah
Coatney (Dereck), David Shank (Amanda), Stephen Shank (Katie),
Christa Castillo, Rebekah Dawes (Camron), Elizabeth Davis (Travis),
Johannah Shank, Lucas Hendee, Jonathan Shank; great-grandchildren,
Madison Hays, Michael Coatney, Laylah Calhoon, Wesley Hendee,
Ethan Shank, Elizabeth Coatney, Taylor Hedger, Boston Arbizo, Nolan
Calhoon, Maia Vargas, Elijah Calhoon, Bowen Hendee, Luna Vargas,
Austin Hendee, Korban Shank, Finlay Calhoon, Dallas Hedger, Kiley
Hedger, Sullivan Hendee, Braxtyn Shank, Zayden Shank, Magnolia Davis;
siblings, sister Dorothy Caputo, step sisters Patricia Smith and Jessie
Evans, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Burge Terrace Baptist Church
or Shriners’ Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL
33607.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 4, 2021 at Burge Terrace
Baptist Church, 9345 Brookville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46239 from 5-8pm.
Funeral services will begin there on Tuesday at 2pm, with visitation
