James William Bridges

James William Bridges, 72, of Avon, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014. He was born on May 14, 1942 in New York, NY to William L. Bridges, Jr. and Marian (Beckers) Bridges. Jim graduated from North Central High School in 1960 and attended Purdue University to study Engineering. He worked as a Project Coordinator for Beam, Longest & Neff, LLC in Indianapolis for 36 years, retiring in 2004. Jim also worked for many years as a land surveyor. Outside of work, Jim enjoyed building military dioramas and WWII scale models. He was an avid gardener, stamp collector and spent time traveling to Brown County and other parts of the country. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Vicki (Nay) Bridges; daughters, Kimberly (Joseph) Gray and Jennifer (John) Sinnett; son, Brian Carr; grandchildren, Benjamin (14), Mitchell (13), and Olivia (12). He is also survived by his sister, Jane (Dick) Sowers. Jim was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be given to Wheeler Mission.
