James W. 'Bud' Clark

James W. "Bud" Clark 72, of Flat Rock, IN, passed away June 23, 2011. He was a 33rd degree mason, and a member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge #146. Jim was a former member of Irvington OES and Scottish Rite. He started his 54-year career in the grocery business at age 16–quickly being promoted to manager at the young age of 21, working for Standard Grocery, Clark Food Stores, and retiring as store manager of Safeway Foods at 56th & Illinois in 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ira and Lillian (Welch) Clark and his brother, Donald Clark. Jim is survived by his wife of 32 years Cheryl Clark; children, James (Kim) Clark, Tina (Mike) Jackson, Donna Garard, Diana (David) Johnson and Jodi (Josh) Oliver; grandfather of 12; great-grandfather of 3; sister, Janet Sutton and brother, John (Wanda) Clark; sister-in-law, Betty Clark; mother-in-law, Louise Bernard and former spouse, Alberta Sams. Services will be Tuesday, June 28 at 2 p.m. in Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Washington Park East, with visitation Monday, June 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral center. Memorial contributions may be made to the IU Simon Cancer Center or Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
