James Russell Hill

James Russell Hill, a lifelong resident of Speedway Indiana passed November 24, 2015 at the age of 81. He was the son of Robert L Hill and Genevieve (Lahmann) Hill. After graduating from Indiana University, Jim served as a Lieutenant in the US Army while stationed in Alaska. Jim worked for Speedway Lumber as an independent contractor, builder and broker. He loved meeting people, was an avid reader, and believed in the value of education. James was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Bernice (Gembala) Hill and is survived by his children, Stephen Hill (wife Polly and son Sean), Daughter Susan (Hill) Beetham ( husband Jon and son Cody) and his sister Katherine (Kitty Hill) Sedgley (husband David). Services are private. Flanner and Buchanan-Speedway are handling arrangements.
