James Russell

James M. Russell, “Jim”, 73, entered heavenly rest on February 7, 2026. Jim was born on June 3, 1952, to parents Charles Russell Sr. and Antoinette (Sauer) Russell in Indianapolis.

In 1972 Jim was called upon to serve his country. His military service was directed by the Army National Guard where he specialized in heating and air conditioning. Jim was honorably discharged in 1978.

Jim worked for George F. Cram Company for 35 years as a respected Traffic Manager and member of the Board of Directors. He considered his co-workers as family.

Also, in 1972, Jim met his future wife, Theresa. After two years, they tied the knot on May 25, 1974, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Indianapolis. Together they became parents to Jason, Justin, Laura, and Evan. Jim was a thoughtful, caring, forgiving, generous man who loved his family unconditionally. He loved being a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He lived his life doing right by others and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Jim’s faith was important to him. He and his family were charter members of St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church. He graduated from St. Simon the Apostle school and then Warren Central High School, class of 1970.

In his free time, he loved working around the yard, doing carpentry projects, car restoration, and model railroading. He was a fan of racing events such as the Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR. He participated in Rod Runs with his 1923 T Bucket.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa; children Jason, Evan (Jessica) Russell, Laura (Jason) Quiett; and grandchildren Garrett Russell, Sarah, Diana, and Connor Quiett.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Justin Russell, brother and sister-in-law, Charles Russell, Jr. “Tom” and Diana Russell; sister Patricia Stevens; and his loving, faithful, pet and companion, Gracie.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229) from 4 – 8 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church (8155 Oaklandon Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46236) at 10 am. Burial will take place at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens following services.
