James "Rick" Richard Taylor

James Richard “Rick” Taylor, 64 of Westfield, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023. Rick was born March 4, 1959 in Lebanon, IN to the late Clarence and Marilyn Taylor. He attended Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA. Rick worked in the mortgage field most of his life and retired from that field.

Rick was a member of Northview Church and was an active participant in multiple bible study groups. He was a long-time volunteer at Grace Church food pantry, where he served with his wife Lara every Tuesday night. Rick loved his family and his wife and kids tremendously. He was a fierce friend and could always be counted on by his friends and family. He had a deep love for and faith in Jesus and was very grateful for God’s mercy and forgiveness. He took such joy in discipling others.

Rick’s love and appreciation for a wide range of music was a huge part of him and his family loved to listen to him play his guitar and banjo, as well as listen to him sing. He was also a drummer in his earlier years and an excellent air drummer in his later years. He loved to make people laugh and his sense of humor and sarcasm was known and loved by so many!

Family and friends are invited to gather Wednesday, May 10 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm in the chapel at Northview Church-Carmel. Rick’s funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 10 in the auditorium at Northview Church-Carmel.

Rick is survived by his wife, Lara; children, Adam Taylor, Ashley Taylor, Alyssa (husband, Brandon) Pettiford, Lindsey (husband, Rick) Posey; grandson, Holden Posey; brother, Mike (wife, Lisa Taylor, Steve (wife, Natalie) Taylor, Dave (wife, Connie) Taylor; sister-in-law, Cindy Taylor. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ron Taylor and sisters, Brenda Taylor-Sanchez and Janice Munson.
