James R. Kester

March 2, 1945 — January 16, 2013

James R. Kester of Indianapolis, died on January 16, 2013 with a smile resting below his handlebar mustache. He knew how blessed he was to have so many caring friends, family, and the love of his life, Peggy Miller. Jim was a veteran, having served in the US Army. He came home and began a successful 20 year career as a Police Officer with the Indianapolis Police Department. The incredible friendships formed at IPD lasted until his passing. Jim's curiosity knew no limits. He built a small airplane in his living room (with Red Baron wings), he became a master leather cobbler, horse owner, was bi-lingual, and fell in love with the German culture. Jim was the President of the Saenger Chor and spent much of his time there tending to the club and enjoying the company of his friends. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion and The 40 and 8. Jim leaves behind his brother John Kester, his two sons Robert and Eric, and three adoring grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's honor can be made to The Saenger Chor PO Box 44110 Indianapolis, IN. 46244. Prost! Friends may call from 11:00 p.m to 1:00 p.m..on Wednesday, January 23, 2013.
