James Paul Smith, 77, of Indianapolis, passed away on Feb 16, 2015. He was born on February 4, 1938 to the late James R. and Susan Dingle Smith in Wayne Co, Indiana.
He enjoyed being the master of all jokes. He attended Purdue University and graduated from Bowling Green University in 1960. After graduating he worked 10 years in management for Kroger. He then started his own rental and landlord business that he owned and operated until he retired in 1999.
He loved to collect antique cars, and when he retired he enjoyed hand making replica cars from scratch and making big batches of wine that he loved to gift to his friends and family. He and Lois became Florida snowbirds in Venice, Florida and regularly played golf. He was an early "American Picker", and he always knew the best places to find a good deal.
He belonged to Greenwood F. &A.M., was a past master of Logan F. &A.M., member of the Royal Arch Masons, Murat Shrine, Past President of the Murat Veteran Car Club, past treasurer of the Indianapolis Landlords Association, and a member of Venice East Golf Club, Venice, Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Lois A. Davis Smith; daughter Jennifer (Kerwin) Masten and son Matthew A. (Christy) Smith; granddaughters Molly Smith, Adler Tuttle, Emily Smith, Jordan Masten, and Corey Masten; and sister Marilyn Smith (Leo) Mann.
