James A. Nichols, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for travel, and his lifelong career in engineering.

Born in Estherville, Iowa, James built a meaningful life with beloved memories surrounded by the people and experiences that mattered most.

As a food processing engineer he dedicated his professional career working for well-known companies and iconic brands, including Pillsbury, Green Giant, and General Mills bringing beloved foods to families across the world.

James loved to travel and held a special fondness for global destinations such as Argentina, France, and Greece.

He found joy in experiencing the magic of Disney and creating unforgettable memories through those adventures with his family.

Whether exploring global destinations or enjoying his favorite family traditions, he approached life with curiosity, joy, and gratitude.

Above all, James treasured his family. The love he shared, the memories he created, and the generations that follow him will forever be part of his lasting legacy.

James is survived by his loving wife, four children, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his brother. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Though he is no longer with us, his love will remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind. His life, the memories he created, and the legacy he leaves through his family will be cherished for generations to come.

Visitation for Jim will be from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), 4180 Westfield Road, Westfield, IN 46062, with a funeral service immediately following at 12:30 pm. Burial will take place at Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery.
