James M. Stephens

James M. Stephens 78, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. He was born on March 27, 1933 in Terre Haute, IN to Lawrence L. and Rena (Hudson) Stephens. James worked as a truck driver for several years and owned and operated Stephens Trucking for 7 years. He also owned Cork n Bottle Liquor in Speedway for 3 years. James was retired from Teamsters Local 135 and was an avid woodworker. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Susan E. (McGlone) Stephens; children, Paula Barnett, Larry (Robin) Stephens, Penny White, Millie Stephens, Bill (Liz) Stephens, Kim (Duke) Tetrick, Forest Spall; son-in-law, David Stout; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. James is also survived by 3 sisters, Betty Cave, Ann Jansen and Helen Roberts. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Hilda Louise (Glasscock) Stephens; children, Cindy Stout, Gary Glaze, Jimmy Stephens; brother, Robert Stephens. Visitation for James will be held at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center- Speedway on Friday, September 16, 2011 from 4 until 7pm, with funeral services beginning at 7pm. Cremation will follow.
