James Lewis Steele
was born in Marvels, Alabama on February 8, 1944 to the late Rev. Northern Steele, Sr. and Margaret Ann (Bolden) Steele.
He was educated in the Alabama school system. James went to school to become a Heavy Equipment Operator and worked as a Crane Operator for Chrysler but most of his employment was in the mines and foundry in different capacities and cities. His favorite pastime was planting his vegetable garden and watching it grow.
James was united in marriage to Jean C. (Brooks) Steele in June 1970. There were no children in this union.
James was preceded in death by four sisters, Hazel, Helen and Lela Steele and Evelyn Thomas.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, one brother, Northern (Laura Ann)Steele Jr.; one sister, Vernelle (Homer) Davis; one daughter, Tracy (Keenon) Jones; two granddaughters and a host of nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Flanner and Buchanan – Floral Park 425 N. Holt Road. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm at Flanner and Buchanan. Entombment, Floral Park Cemetery.
