James Louis "Red" Broaddus, 83 Indianapolis, passed away March 29, 2012. He was born in Springfield, Il on August 26, 1928 to the late James and Helen Marie Hamilton. Red married the love of his life Alberta Justus. Their paths met at 79th and Dean Rd where Alberta was riding her horse, Sweetheart and Red was riding his horse, lady. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years.
Other survivors include; sons, Richard (Eileen), Kevin (Jan), Bruce; daughter, Maureen (Tony); daughter-in-law Maureen; brothers, Harry, Charles, Fred, George, Curtis; sisters, Joanna, Kay, Nancy; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Red is preceded in death by his sons, James Frank and Steven Michael and his brothers, Jerry, Frank and sisters, Mary, Dorothy and Patty.
Red retired from Navel Avionics as a Tool Maker in 1965. He also partnered with Bob Reynolds for Clicque Tool Co. Red worked as a mechanic for Salsman Garage.
Red was grandpa to all the kids in the neighborhood. He loved telling stories, hitting the yard sales and woodworking. He enjoyed working on cars and camping with the Capital City Campers. Red was a faithful Wal-Mart Shopper and planned his trips close to Bob Evans restaurants. Red was a 32nd degree Mason for over 50 years at the Keystone Masonic Lodge #251.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00-8:00PM at Flanner and Buchanan -Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Good shepherd Chapel, 9700 Allisonville Rd. A funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00PM at Good Shepherd Chapel. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
