James (Jim) Calhoon, 69, joined the saints in heaven on December 23rd. He was a follower of Christ who sought to emulate Jesus in all his interactions with others. He lived with a rare attentiveness to people. He was a leader and a gatherer for his loved ones and family. Jim was deeply intentional in the way he showed up. When he was with you, he was truly present, offering his full attention to both the moment and the person in front of him. He truly enjoyed planning out a future gathering or fun activity for you to attend. He loved well and without pretense. Jim chose joy as a way of life. These qualities served him well throughout his career, including his role as vice president of sales for Agfa's central zone. His leadership was marked not only by professionalism and insight but also by genuine care for his colleagues and clients alike. Jim understood that success was rooted in relationships, and he built them with integrity, warmth, and respect. In retirement, Jim kept himself busy with many activities. He loved golf and all the people he spent time with on the course. He grew his own vegetables and stored them. He stayed strong by working out with a boot camp group when he wasn’t golfing. He was environmentally conscious, clearing acres of invasive plants on his property to make the area more sustainable for wildlife. He loved seeing Broadway shows and singing American Pie. Jim enjoyed being retired. Jim’s legacy lives on most clearly through his family, whom he loved deeply. He was fully immersed in being Dad, Papa, Son, Brother, and Husband. He was always making a plan to be with any or all of them. His influence continues in the lives he shaped through his presence, his joy, his leadership, and the way he made people feel truly known. He is survived by his wife, Terri Calhoon; his daughter, Lindsay (Seth) Reid; his son, James Calhoon; and his grandchildren, Hope, Hunter, Hadley, Josiah, Naomi, and Abram. A celebration of life is taking place on Friday, January 30th at 4PM at The Golf Club of Indiana, in the Cardinal Room 6905 South County Road 525 East Whitestown, Indiana, 46052. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution would be greatly appreciated and made to the Oaks on Main Project in Lebanon led by the church he attended: Freedom Church, which is near to his heart.
