James A. Hinshaw

James A. Hinshaw, 79, Indianapolis, went home to be with his Lord April 28, 2024. He was born in Indianapolis on March 26, 1945, to Oris and Lillian Hinshaw. 

He grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Lawrence Central High School. There, he played football and was a lineman for 3 years. James attended Rose-Hulman and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s from Indiana State University. 

He was the business department head of Broad Ripple High School and finished his career as Vice Principal at Arlington High School. James began as a volunteer firefighter with Castleton Fire Department and was Chief for 10 years. He was a member of Legacy Bible Church. 

James is preceded in death by his loving wife, Judith. He is survived by his sons, John A. (Susan) Hinshaw, Jay A. (Jocelyn) Hinshaw, grandchildren, Jack, Reese, Will, Jamison, and Josephine.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, from 10-12pm at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis. Funeral Services will begin there at 12pm.
