James Heatherington Mackintosh III

Age 78, passed away on November 27, 2016. James was born on August 26, 1938 in Ann Arbor, MI to James Heatherington Mackintosh II, Asbury Park, NJ and Alice Louise (Wheeler) Mackintosh, Saline, MI. Serving in the US Army, he was honorably discharged in 1959. James married Sandra (Smith) Mackintosh on January 5, 1980 in Greencastle, IN.
James was a dog handler, an American Cocker Spaniel Dog Breeder and Pet Boarding Kennel Owner. He was the owner of Mackintosh Perennials in Allegan, MI. He also was a Paint Horse Breeder. James loved to be outdoors with nature, watching birds, getting his hands dirty and woodworking. He also took time learning Day Lily Hybridizing.
James is survived by his wife, Sandra (Smith) Mackintosh; sister, Fonda Raymer and husband Robert, Greenfield; children, James (Mack) Mackintosh and wife Robin, Indianapolis, Roderick Mackintosh and wife Virginia, Indianapolis, Heather Ratcliff, Indianapolis, Holly Dooley and husband Patrick, Indianapolis, Ashley Mackintosh and Debbie Dreyer, Indianapolis, Dianna Mackintosh, Indianapolis, Jennifer Menchhofer and husband Christopher, Brownsburg, Michelle Mackintosh, Brownsburg, and Michael Mackintosh and Ginger Moody, Sheridan; grandchildren, Lacie Ghesquiere, Melissa Ratcliff, Jodie Richey, Charles Mackintosh, Cody Dooley, Chris Dooley, Hannah Menchhofer, Garner Menchhofer, Zachary Thom, Abigail Thom, Cole Mackintosh, and Makenna Mackintosh; father-in-law, James M. Smith, Greencastle; sister-in-law, Cynthia Deem, Danville, IL; 9 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister, Sarah Bartz; and grandson, Robert Ratcliff.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan-Hamilton Memorial Park.
