James F. Small, age 79 of Indianapolis passed away on January 21, 2017. He was born July 24, 1937 in Evansville, IN to Allen and Gussie Small, who precede him in death. He graduated from Decatur Central High School where he was an All-State Wrestler. After high school, he served in the US Marine Corp. After 37 years of service, he retired from National Starch in 1994. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Mary E. Small. Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, James R. (Sharon E.) Small, Debra (Doug) Mayo, Donna (Glenn) Ison and Diana Small, grandchildren, Jesse (Lindsay), Stephanie (Dwight), Jeremy (Kristi), Brandon, Jessica, Josh (Lindsey), Megan, Maryssa, and Jake and great-grandchildren, Ian, Amelia, Caleb, Arleigh, Dylan, Josiah, Larissa, Brooklyn, Hayden, Hadley, Drew and Addison.
Friends may visit from 4-8 PM Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Flanner and Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis. A celebration of life will be at 10 AM Wednesday at the funeral center. Contributions may be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
