James L. Egner, “Jim,” 83, of Greenwood, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2026. He was born on August 7, 1942, in Pomeroy, Washington, to Albert and Alvena (Land) Egner. Jim graduated from Howe High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1960.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1967. He dedicated 35 years of his career to Chrysler Corporation, where he worked in Production Control.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Donna June; his brother, Robert; and his grandson, Samuel Speer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Donna (Darnell) Egner; his son, James Michael Egner; and his children: Brian and Michelle; Deborah (Robert) Ramey; Laura (David) Matertic and their children Vivian and Niko; Christa (Kenneth) Horst and their children Natalie, Jackson, and Jameson; and Trish Villafana and her daughter Evelyn.

He is also survived by his stepchildren: Denise (Donnie) Gallagher and their sons Ryan (Bryson) Drinkwater and Ross Gallagher; Diane (David) Clay and their sons Brandon (Jessica) Clay and children Benton and Hunter, and Brock (Roxanna) Clay and children Aiden and Aliza; and Rebecca (John) Wiles and her children Emily (Aarlo), Maxwell, and Tanner.

Jim was an avid golfer and had a deep love for sports. He especially cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy throughout his life.

He was a member of Stonebridge Church in Texas.

Visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229, on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 5 to 7pm. A Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 2pm with a visitation one hour prior to service at Flanner Buchanan with burial at Washington Park East Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Museum of the U.S. Army Fund, 2425 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, Virginia 22201.
