James Edwin Hayes, Sr.

James (Jim) Edwin Hayes Sr, 80 of Indianapolis Indiana passed away June 9, 2021. He was born November 24, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Lucille (Schmidt) Hayes.

Jim worked for RCA/Thompson Consumers Electronics for 35+ years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the River of Life Church of God in Camby, Indiana. He was active in the food pantry ministry and was the official “Coffee Host” at the church. Jim was a passionate bowler and even achieved a perfect 300 game. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and was known for his elaborate outdoor Christmas display. Jim is dearly loved and will be missed by all those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Janice (McClellan) Hayes. He is survived by his son, James E Hayes Jr.; his daughter Janice McKinney; his son-in-law, Chris McKinney; his granddaughter, Katie McKinney; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021 from 6-8 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Floral Park. Services will be held the following day, on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the same location. He will be laid to rest at the Floral Park Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
