James E. “Jim” Fisher

71, Indianapolis, passed away May 6, 2016. He was born on February 17, 1945 in Indianapolis to the late, George H. and Mary F. (Hauger) Fisher. James graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army, 1965-67. He was employed with the Indianapolis Police Department (IPD) for 20 years, retiring in 1988. After retirement, he worked in Loss Prevention for the State of Indiana Insurance. James then worked, as Executive Security, for Indianapolis Power and Light. In full retirement, he worked as the neighborhood “handyman”. James was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

James is survived by seven nieces and nephews, several cousins, and his beloved dog, Jack. He was preceded in death by brothers: George, Paul “Tom”, and Richard; sister, Margaret (Diane Cross); nephew, Tracy Cross; and niece, Terri Lockhart.

Calling will be held from 4pm until 8pm on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, where funeral services for James will be held at 11am on Thursday, May 12, 2016. Burial will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
