James Robert Caulk Jr.

April 14, 1962 — August 13, 2025

Indianapolis

James Robert Caulk Jr., age 63, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on August 13, 2025. Born and raised in Indianapolis, Jim lived a life rooted in compassion, family, faith, and laughter.

Jim was known to all as someone who never hesitated to lend a helping hand — whether to a friend, a neighbor, or even a stranger. His selflessness and caring nature touched countless lives, and he offered strength not just through words, but through unwavering love and support. Above all else, Jim valued his family. His life-long partner, children, grandchildren, his dog Bub, and his grandpups Reggie and Barrett were the center of his world. He lived for their happiness and never hesitated to put their needs before his own.

With a story for every situation and a joke for every moment, Jim brought warmth and humor wherever he went. He had a gift for finding light in the darkest of times and could always be counted on to lift the spirits of those around him. His love of storytelling and laughter left a legacy of cherished memories for all who knew him. Jim also had deep faith in God and often prayed for those he loved and even for those he had never met. His heart was open, generous, and kind.

He is preceded in death by his father, James R. Caulk Sr.; his mother, Esther E. Caulk; his stepmother, Mary E. Caulk; and his sister, Lisa A. Sloderbeck.

He is survived by his partner, Crickett Y. Robertson; his daughter, Shelby A. Caulk; his son, Jason J. Caulk; his daughter-in-law, Krystle K. Caulk; his treasured grandchildren, Kaitlyn R. Caulk and James M. Caulk; and his brother, Keith A. Caulk.

A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Jim’s life will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.

Though he is no longer with us, the love, laughter, and stories Jim shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
