James W. Brothers

James (Jim) Willis Brothers 95, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026. He was born January 7, 1931.

Jim was a graduate of Cathedral High School (1951), where he played the trumpet in the band and played football. He lived in Indianapolis all of his life. He also spent 10 years in the National Guard. He worked in insurance at Hooper Holmes Insurance Company and then Commercial Services. Later on in life he went into car sales at various car dealerships. He finished his work life in 2018, working part time for Indiana Funeral Care.

Jim enjoyed sports, anything to do with Notre Dame, old western movies, doing word search puzzles and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Frances (Williams) Brothers.

He is survived by his wife Nancy (Fishtahler) Brothers whom he married in 1958. They had three children, daughter, Marsha Goetz (Bill), son, Greg Brothers (Bonnie), and daughter Michele Brothers. He also had 5 grandchildren, Amanda Donahue (Brien), Morgan McElroy, Marissa Goetz, Evan Goetz, and Brandon Brothers (Caroline), and 6 great grandchildren, Declan, Leighton, Claire, Colin, , Noelle and Hayes all of whom he adored.

Funeral services will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, on Friday, May 29, 2026 with visitation from 10 -11 am and the funeral service beginning at 11:00.
