James “Jim” Elmer Birge, 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior, January 26th, 2024. Jim was born January 21st, 1948, in Longview, Washington, to parents William and Reba (Linn) Birge.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Jim’s Christian faith was always paramount for him. For a time, he was a member of the Baptist Church of Beech Grove.
A very hard worker, Jim worked as a salesman for several different companies throughout his life, selling everything from headstones to cyber security systems.
Jim was a true gentleman with a kind heart and warm smile. Jim never knew a stranger, and his friendly demeaner was contagious. He enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, and could steal the show at karaoke.
Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children Tina and Andy (Heather) Birge; stepchildren Gary Damron and Angel (Jeff) Everman; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; siblings Michael Birge, Sandy Birge, Billie Birge, and Nancy (Steve) Sowder; and sister-in-law Paula Birge.
Jim is preceded by his wife, Ethel; parents; and his brother John Birge.
Visitation for Jim will be Friday February 2nd at Flanner Buchanan Memorial Park from 11-3pm. His funeral will begin at 3pm. He will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.
