James "Jim" Birge

James “Jim” Elmer Birge, 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior, January 26^th, 2024. Jim was born January 21^st, 1948, in Longview, Washington, to parents William and Reba (Linn) Birge. 

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army. 

Jim’s Christian faith was always paramount for him. For a time, he was a member of the Baptist Church of Beech Grove. 

A very hard worker, Jim worked as a salesman for several different companies throughout his life, selling everything from headstones to cyber security systems.

Jim was a true gentleman with a kind heart and warm smile. Jim never knew a stranger, and his friendly demeaner was contagious. He enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, and could steal the show at karaoke. 

Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

He is survived by his children Tina and Andy (Heather) Birge; stepchildren Gary Damron and Angel (Jeff) Everman; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; siblings Michael Birge, Sandy Birge, Billie Birge, and Nancy (Steve) Sowder; and sister-in-law Paula Birge. 

Jim is preceded by his wife, Ethel; parents; and his brother John Birge. 

Visitation for Jim will be Friday February 2^nd at Flanner Buchanan Memorial Park from 11-3pm. His funeral will begin at 3pm. He will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.
