James Arthur Black

August 6, 1932 — December 2, 2011

James "Buggy" Arthur Black, the eldest son of Mr. Arthur Woods and Mrs. Mae Franklin, was born August 6, 1932 in Indianapolis, IN. Buggy accepted God at an early age by joining Beulah Baptist church where he later became a distinguished Deacon until he was called home. Buggy attended Indianapolis Public Schools including Crispus Attucks High School. In 1946 Buggy volunteered and served valiantly for the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1954. In June of 1957 Buggy took as his bride Katherine Derrick of Forest Mississippi, where they enjoyed 43 years of marriage. In 1960 Buggy joined and was a lifetime member of Masonic Trinity Lodge 18. On Friday, December 2, 2011 Buggy spread his wings and took his heavenly flight to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Woods and Mae Franklin, his step-father Henry Franklin Sr., brothers Robert Franklin, William "Mickey" Franklin and his loving wife Katherine Black. He leaves to cherish his memories one son James Michael (Kim) Black, one daughter Dana Catherine Black, two grandsons, Samuel James Black and Sean Michael Black. He also leaves his brother Henry Franklin Jr. and two sisters-in-law Sarah M. Derrick and Marvie L. Derrick, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will dearly miss him.
