James Albert Adams 76, died on February 1st, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born May 23, 1938 in Dayton Ohio to the late Albert and Ann Adams. He was a graduate of The University of Dayton in 1961 and then served in the US Army National Guard. In 1963 he met the love of his life, Alice, and they were married in 1964. He worked for the King Cole restaurant in Dayton Ohio and then in Indianapolis for 10 years. In 1973 he and his wife founded Adam's Rib restaurant. They enjoyed tremendous success until they sold the business in 2002 at the onset of his Parkinson Disease.
He enjoyed golf, fishing, gardening, and painting. He is survived by his wife Alice, his two daughters Michele A. (David) Barbee and Kim D. (Brian) Depp, and his son James A. (Lori) Adams II. Also, his brothers, Michael (Marian) Adams of Dayton, OH and Robert (Terry) Adams of Jan Lew, WV. He was a doting and loving grandfather to his grandchildren Laura and Maggie Barbee, Rachel, Emily, and Sabrina Efroymson, and Marley and Max Adams. James was preceded in death by his brother Albert Adams of Dayton, OH.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, February 6th, at 12:00 noon at The Traders Point Christian Church 6590 S. Indianapolis Road, Whitestown, IN 46075. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research.
