James A. Wenzlick, age 82 of Avon passed away on July 6, 2016. He was born August 12, 1933 in Chesaning, Michigan to Leo and Marie Eberl Wenzlick, who precede him in death. He moved to Indianapolis in 1943. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1952. He then served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. Jim married Leonora Rathz on December 1, 1956. He graduated from the Electronics Trade School in 1958. He was also a member of Toastmasters International, and was a Cub Scout leader and scout master for 15 years. He retired January 2014 at age 80 after 56 years with Noel-Smyser Engineering Corp. He has been a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church since 1943 where he served as Lector for 47 years and Eucharistic Minister for 35 years.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Leonora “Lee” Wenzlick, children, Daniel (Kim) Wenzlick, David (Cathy) Wenzlick, Linda Gibson and Susan (Mark) Croft, grandchildren, Michael, Karen, Sarah and Jordan and great-grandchildren, Brooke, Lily, Faith and Melissa.
Friends may visit from 4 to 8 PM Friday, July 8, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday at St. Ann Catholic Church, 6350 S. Mooresville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46221. Contributions may be made in Jim’s name to St. Ann Catholic Church.
