James A. “Papaw” Fisher,
77, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017. Jim was born April 18, 1940 in Decatur, Illinois to John Grant and Cordilia May Fisher.
Jim was a coach to all. He never met a stranger and never passed judgement on others. He was a family man and always put his family first. He was a faithful member of Eternal Life Tabernacle. He sang on the worship team and was head of the food pantry. He also loved being a door greeter at church, making everyone who walked through the door feel welcome. He retired from Universal/Sensient Flavors in 2002 after 20 years.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; 6 sisters; and 4 brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Fisher; children, LaDonna Fisher and Greg Fisher (Linda); grandchildren, Grant Fisher (Estella Beck), Courtney Fisher, Emma Earl, and Hailey Sherwood; great grandson, Austin James “AJ” Fisher; sisters, Eileen Kirkland and Sharon Marsh; family friends, Rick and Debbie Warrum and family; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29 from 4pm-8pm at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park, 425 North Holt Road, Indianapolis. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, December 30 at the funeral home from 10am-12noon. Services to immediately follow at 12noon. Jim will be laid to rest at West Ridge Park Cemetery.
