Jack Richard Roberts, 90, of Whitestown, Indiana, formerly of Carmel, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 4, 2025. Born on February 9, 1935, in Marion, Ohio, to parents George William Roberts and Earma (Lowery) Roberts. Jack lived a life marked by faith, family, service, joy, humor, and quiet strength.
On September 9, 1956, Jack married the love of his life, Frances “Frankie” (Knapp) Roberts, in Marion, Ohio. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, love, and shared adventures. Their 65 years of marriage were a shining example of partnership and devotion. Jack and Frankie were known to light up the dance floor in their younger years, and Jack remained a faithful and loving husband caring for Frankie through her health challenges until her passing in February 2022. Though he mourned her deeply, he rejoiced in the promise of their reunion in heaven.
Jack graduated from Harding High School in Marion, followed by attending The Ohio State University, prior to entering the United States Army. Post his time in the army he went on to build a successful career at GTE (now Verizon). He was respected for his integrity, leadership, and work ethic. He was active in several community and professional organizations throughout his life, always seeking ways to contribute and grow. Yet, Jack would be the first to say that what mattered most was not titles or accolades, but it was people. He cherished time spent with family and friends, especially on the golf course, where he played in multiple leagues and found joy in the game and camaraderie.
Jack’s love for his family was unwavering. He was the most awesome dad, papa, and gramps anyone could ask for, always present, supportive, and full of love. He attended many recitals, games, and celebrations. His family knew him as their biggest cheerleader, always offering encouragement, wisdom, and a warm smile. Jack had a wonderful sense of humor, often singing silly songs, telling jokes, and making everyone feel welcomed and loved. He proudly declared that his grandchildren were just like him...GRAND.
A faithful follower of Jesus Christ, Jack’s life was a living testimony of grace and devotion. He was a long-time member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church, where he worshipped weekly and served joyfully painting rooms, hanging wallpaper, and helping wherever needed. His quiet acts of service reflected his humble heart and deep commitment to his church family. Jack’s gentle spirit, quick wit, and generous heart touched everyone he met.
Jack is survived by his children, Roxane Bush (Floyd Eric Bush preceded in death 2015), Jack Roberts Jr., and Roben (David) Trout. He adored his grandchildren, and each of them was his favorite: Adam (Laura) Bush, Heather Bush (Jeff Wong), Matthew (Emily) Bush, Ava Trout, and Harper Trout. He was blessed with seven beautiful great grandchildren: Nathan Bush, Virginia Bush, Frances Bush, Adalyn Wong, Preston Wong, Samuel Bush, and Emma Bush.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Frankie, son in law Eric Bush, his parents, his sister Joyce Steele, and many generations of faithful believers. Jack’s legacy of love and faith lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. As he entered heaven’s gates, we believe he heard the words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Visitation for Jack will be from 10:00 a.m – 10:45 a.m. on Monday, November 17 at Colonial Hills Baptist Church, 8140 Union Chapel Road, Indianapolis, IN 46240, with a funeral service immediately following at 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow the service at Union Chapel Cemetery.
