Jack W. Hiatt, 93, Indianapolis, passed away February 14, 2012. He was born August 9, 1918, in Indianapolis, the son of the late Lawrence and Lula (Haugh) Hiatt.
He graduated from Manual High School, Oklahoma University, and then received his Master's degree from Indiana University. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the 605th Tank Destroyer Batallion. He retired in 1980, from Western Electric and Bell Laboratories after 30 years of service.
Jack was a member of Allisonville Christian Church and the Pioneers, he also enjoyed playing golf.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy M. Hiatt; children, Bob (Verna) Hiatt, Steve (Lewie) Hiatt, Beverly (Davis) Goforth; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great grandson, three brothers, and two sisters.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Allisonville Christian Church, 7701 Allisonville Road. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2012, at Flanner and Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 East Broad Ripple Avenue. Memorial contributions may be directed to Allisonville Christian Church.
