Jack G. Updike, 73, Carmel, passed away August 26, 2011 while surrounded by his family. He was born to January 31, 1938 in Cincinnati, OH. Jack served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne. He retired after many years in sales. Jack was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, where he was an usher. He enjoyed feeding and watching birds. Jack always gave a lot of good advice to his family and friends, who he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Updike in 1985. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, and best friend for over 40 years, Marilyn (Lake) Updike; his children, Jay Updike (Lynn), Terri Hillis, Mike Tomlinson; his grandchildren, Zach, Bailey, Dawson, and Carson; his siblings, George and Gary Updike; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Monday, August 29 at 11 AM at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center- Carmel. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 28 from 2-6 PM and also from 10 AM until service time on Monday. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
