Jack L. Armstrong

January 3, 1947 — April 24, 2024

Jack L. Armstrong entered eternal rest on April 24, 2024.  He was born on January 3, 1947, in Grand Junction, Colorado.  He is survived by his son, John A. Armstrong, and John’s wife, Catherine Miller Armstrong.  His loving wife, Susan Adomaitis Armstrong, preceded him in death, and his parents, Roy M. Armstrong and Margie Bausch Armstrong of Topeka, Kansas.


A 1965 graduate of Topeka High School, Jack continued his education at Washburn University of Topeka, Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration (accounting) in December 1973.  He then attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, earning a full scholarship and then a Master of Urban Studies (city planning) in May 1985.  He was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and a Certified Engineering Technician.  


Jack retired from the Department of Defense, Office of the Inspector General as an Audit Program Director after 2010.  Whereby his audits and audit teams earned several Department of Defense and Government-wide awards.  He was a former U.S. Army Audit Agency auditor and engineer technician with the Kansas Department of Transportation.  He was also a co-owner of a forensic accounting firm, the Adomaitis Organization, with his wife.  He performed extensive volunteer work and advisory services with the Virginia Society of CPAs, Association of CFEs, Truth-In-Accounting (a non-profit), and the Office of U.S. Senator Charles Grassley regarding Federal financial accounting and auditing issues and financial improprieties.  He served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army as a combat engineer.  He was also a St. Mark’s United Methodist Church member in Carmel, Indiana.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the Indiana Donor Network. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 4th at 10:30 AM EST at Carmel Cemetary, located at 1000 North Rangeline Rd, Carmel, IN 46032.
