J. Lavon Scudder

J. LaVon Scudder, 92, of Speedway, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011. She was born on April 23, 1918 in Oaklandon, IN to Joseph and Maggie (Silvey) Apple. LaVon graduated from Oaklandon High School and attended Beauty College. She worked as a beautician in the Speedway area for several years and was also a member of the Seventh and Eighth United Christian Church. LaVon enjoyed traveling to new places and cherished family above all else. She is survived by her children, Greg (Sandy) Scudder and Patti (Robert) Rose; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. LaVon is also survived by her sister, Pauline Stott and brother, Gilbert Apple. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Scudder, Jr. who passed away in 1985; son Harold Scudder III, who passed away in 2001; as well as her parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services for Mrs. Scudder will be held at the Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Speedway on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 3pm, with visitation 2 hours prior to the services.
