Donald “Don” Dubrosky
85, of Indianapolis, passed away August 26, 2020. He was born on March 3, 1935 in Pocahontas, Illinois as the son of Anton and Clara Dubrosky.
Don was born and raised in Pocahontas, Illinois. He graduated from Pocahontas High School and prior to graduating he met the love of his life, “Betty” at a movie theater in a nearby town. After graduation Don found a job as a clock maker which started his interest in collecting clocks. Which turned into (at last count) a collection of around 200. Don and Betty soon traveled to Indianapolis for a job opportunity in a family owned grocery. This is where Don first started practicing the skill of meat cutting. Don eventually took a position with Standard Grocery where he moved into a management. He continued working with Standard Grocery for 45 years until he retired. Don had many interests in life. He loved classic cars and motorcycles. He was a collector of kiddie car classics and Model A figurines and to this day still owns a real Model A. He also enjoyed restoring peddle cars. He enjoyed going to the New Port Hill Climb with the family to test out his cars against others. Don always enjoyed the outdoors. In the summer he could be found swimming at the lake, sitting on the front porch, working in his yard, feeding the squirrels around the house, or just taking in the summer sun while taking a nap. Dons favorite time of the year though was winter. He loved Christmas and the snow. His house was always known for all the Christmas lights outside around the holidays. Everything was always decorated, even the flagpole had lights wrapped around it. Above everything though, his greatest love was his family. His kids and grandchildren were everything to him. He attended all the sporting events that he could for both his kids and grandkids. He was a great husband, father, papaw, great papaw, and friend. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
Don is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Elsie “Betty” Dubrosky; children: Diana (Matt) Berry, Jay (Jackie) Dubrosky, Jodi Dubrosky; grandchildren: Kelly, Tim, Brian, Jake, Nichole, April; great grandchildren: Rylee, Necho, Skylar, Harper, Hudson, Ahvay, Ryder, Teylor, and Blake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sons: Tony Dubrosky and Forrest “Forry” Dubrosky.
