J. Charles Kassebaum, Fishers, died peacefully on January 6, 2016. He was born on August 21, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Jean C. and Arvilla (Blake) Kassebaum, who preceded him in death. Upon graduation from Broad Ripple High School in 1951, Charles enlisted in the Navy where he served in Japan and Jacksonville, FL. He spent his career as a project engineer at Naval Avionics in Indianapolis after earning a degree from Purdue University in 1962. After retirement, he spent many happy years tending to the family farm in northern Hamilton County, where he and his brother lived during their childhood. He loved spending time with family, farming, reading history and WWII books, and anything Navy.
He will be missed by his wife of 61 years, Dolores Kassebaum; their three daughters, Evelyn (Paul) Grissom, Mary (Mark) Rogers, and Jeanette Kassebaum (Mark Stall); four grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and his brother, John (Janet) Kassebaum.
Memorial contribtutions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children. Visitation will be held Monday at Flanner and Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Good Shepherd Chapel) from 1-3pm, with funeral services at 3pm.
