Iva Marie Young

Iva Marie Young, 77, of Fishers passed away October 5, 2022, of natural causes.  She was born April 9, 1945, in Indianapolis, the daughter of the late Robert F. and Verida Williams.  She married Andrew Young Sr. who preceded her in passing on September 17, 1999, after more than 35 years of marriage.

Iva was a SURVIVOR! Her survival started from day one. Her mother passed away while giving birth to her. She married Andrew Young Sr. in the 60’s, during the Civil Rights Movement. She was also a breast cancer survivor. Iva also survived two heart attacks, and an Aortic Valve replacement.

Iva had a long career in management for AT&T of over 38 years, retiring in 2010. She later enjoyed helping people in customer service with Comcast for over ten years, up to her last days.  She loved to sing and was very passionate about music. She was known for her beautiful Soprano voice. Many of her high school classmates marveled at her high range. She graduated from Morton Memorial High in Knightstown Indiana. She passed along her passion of music to her son.  She was his number one fan and loved seeing him perform.  Her friends called her Ivy. She was also known for her beautiful smile. Everybody loved to be around her. She had the ability to light up the room by just walking in. She made everybody feel like they were loved.

She is survived by her devoted son, Andrew R. Young II; grandson, Andrew R Young III; sister, Rosalie Hiles; niece, Lee Ann Hiles; and nephew, Terry Hiles.

A private Celebration of Life is being planned for a future date.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Susan G.
