Iris Snyder Cline passed away peacefully on July 24th, 2021 with her family by her side.
Iris was born August 4th, 1924 in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of George L. and Bess (Moore) Snyder. Preceding her in death are her parents and siblings, Virginia, Betty Lou and Russell.
She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Vincennes. Vincennes was always a special place for Iris and her family. She loved to return annually to visit friends and to see her farm and proudly show her family where she spent her formative years. Iris moved to Indianapolis in 1942 where she attended and graduated from Butler University with a bachelor’s degree in Education. While at Butler she became a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority.
Iris began her career at Indiana Bell in Indianapolis and worked two different time periods. She was the Business Office Supervisor for the Annoyance Call Bureau and ultimately retired from Ameritech after 25 years of service. Iris was blessed with lifelong friends, many of whom she met at the phone company or on Melbourne Road.
Iris was a longtime member of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, a volunteer for the AT&T Pioneers and a longtime volunteer as a teacher’s aid in Pike Township schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Cline Sr. She is survived by her son James J. Cline Jr, and his sons with Laura: James P. (J.P.) Cline and Jared J. Cline. Her grandsons always brought a smile to her face.
The family will welcome visitors on Wednesday July 28th from 10:00 -12:00 at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite) followed by a private family memorial. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Hamilton County Humane Society, the Pike Township Educational Foundation or a charity of your choice.
