Iona Cances Abney

Iona C. Abney 89, Indianapolis, passed away April 27, 2012. Iona was born in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee to the late Charles Edgar & Estelle Canter. Iona was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always young at heart and never met a stranger. She especially enjoyed sharing stories of her days playing on her high school basketball team. Iona was preceded in death by her husband, James Reece Abney. She will be lovingly missed by her children: James M. Abney (wife, Lisa) and Mary Jo Langford; grandchildren: Brandon, Jay and Logan Abney, Kelly Coers (husband, David), and Kerry Ware (husband, Joshua); great-grandchildren: Shelbi Louise Reece Coers, Mary Ella Abney and Wade Robinson Abney; and brother, Charles F. Canter, Jr (wife, Betty). Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan- Decatur. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral center. Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery.
