Howard Ponder, 93, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family- his daughter Julie, his sons Matt, Chris and Dan, and his wife of 63 years, Claudette. A Korean War veteran and a multi-talented award-winning athlete, his job with HUD brought him to Indianapolis where he made his home for the last 50 years. Known for his warm and welcoming personality, he was always quick with a story or a solution and he loved dogs, birds and having his hands under the hood of a car. His comforting presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Along with his immediate family, Howard is survived by his brother Max, his son-in-law Brad Carnes, his grandsons Chase and Hunter Carnes, and his newest grandchild, the son of Dan and Colleen, three month-old Ronan Howard Ponder.
