In Loving Memory of Hong Quoc Truong
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Hong Quoc Truong, who departed this life peacefully on July 26, 2025, in Mooresville, Indiana, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on January 2, 1948, in Ninh Thuan, Vietnam, Hong lived a life marked by resilience, warmth, and unwavering devotion to his family. He brought light and joy into the lives of all who knew him, remembered for his strength and generous heart.
After immigrating to the United States in 1980, Hong built a life grounded in hard work, compassion, and community. He worked as a machinist, always giving his best and lifting others along the way. He was especially known for his love of gardening, growing vegetables (bittermelon and chili peppers) and his signature bánh mì—Vietnamese French bread—which he baked with care and pride. He loved to joke around with his friends, make his grandchildren laugh with his cat noises and funny dances, and wore a smile each day despite hardships.
He is survived by his wife, Phuong Vu Truong; his children: Lang (Thomas) Truong, Susan (Linh) Truong, John (Hien) Truong, Candy (Michael) Truong, and Ann Khai (Robert) Yang; and his grandchildren: Katie (Evan) Trinh, Emily (Thomas) Trinh, Theodore, Allison, Benjamin, Justin, Grace, Jenna, Grant, Greta, Emma, Hannah, Bobby, and Myles.
Hong was the eldest sibling and is survived by Dung Truong, Hung Truong, Le Truong, Suu Truong, Y My Truong, and Y Mao Truong. He will be deeply missed by countless friends and extended family members who were touched by his wisdom, kindness, and loving spirit.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM EST at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46221, followed by a cremation service in Speedway. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Hong’s legacy endures through the lives he touched and the stories we carry forward in his honor.
