Homer J. Allen, 89, went to be with the Lord April 9, 2012. He passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 29, 1923 in Paoli, Indiana, to Homer and Mabel Osborne Allen, with an older sister, Elizabeth Allen, and married Jean Barnett on November 13, 1942. He attended Indiana University and served in the Army Air Corps, in England and France, during WW II. He is survived by his wife, three children, Gary Allen and wife, Linda, Kathy Wilson and husband, Brooks, and Cindy Harvey and husband, Thad, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He founded Commercial Parts & Service, Inc. in 1963 and was a leader in the food service industry for many years.
Visitation will be Friday, April 13, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at East 91st. Street Christian Church. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 14 from the church with visitation at 10 am. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East. Close to Homer's heart were his church, East 91st St. Christian Church, where he served as an elder, and The Community of Jesus Angel fund, Orleans, MA.
