97, Indianapolis, died January 4, 2018. Born in Johnson County on January 26, 1920. Married in 1942 to Timothy Edward Oakes (deceased 2003) in Indianapolis. Loving mother to two sons—Gary Edward Oakes (Ruth) and Ronald Wayne Oakes. Grandmother to Jennifer Harris (Randy), Kristin Ramsey (Lee), Step-grandsons Kevin Martlage (Rebecca), Eric Martlage (Mindy) and Great-grandmother to grandson Matthew and granddaughters Sophia, Laney, Kelsey, Jill, and Addison.
Hollis was devoted to her church and founder and charter member of Southport Christian Church. During her working career, she was a bookkeeper and secretary at several businesses spending her last working years as the church secretary at Bethany Lutheran Church for 19 years.
Services will be at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township on January 9 at 7 PM with visitation an hour prior. A private burial will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Morgantown Road.
