Herschel Thomas Madden, Sr.

Herschel Thomas Madden, Sr., age 90 of Camby passed away August 14, 2017. He was born October 28, 1926 in Bardwell, KY to Edward Lee and Birdie Byassee Madden, who precede him in death. After attending Tech High School, he served in the Pacific while in the US Navy during WWII. He worked as a farmer and truck driver. He loved to play the guitar, work in the yard, watch old westerns and spend time with his family. He was a member of American Legion Post 252 of Greenwood, IN.

Herschel is preceded in death by his wife, Betty, daughter, Marcella Jean Smithy and son-in-law, Jackie Powers. Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Jackie Sue (Harold) Barnette, Herschel Thomas (Mary) Madden, Jr., Whitt Elliott Madden, Darlene Kay Powers, and Patrick (Donna) Madden, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit from 4-8 pm Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Flanner and Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis. The funeral will be at 1 pm Friday at the funeral home.
